By the way, I had to use my multi-tool once when I was in Seattle to fix the extension pole so I could take a sheen sample.
This strikes me as odd. Your XO is asking you where it states you can order a knife? You will not find this anywhere, at least I've never seen this and I did SOHC PO for 3 years. I guess you could tell him its in the same place you it says you can order paper!

Search GSA Advantage, find one you like and submit a Brown sheet. However, seems like a waste of money if you ask me.

If you would like a nice knife (or five nice knives), just PCS to a Strike Team!! We don't worry about getting a "permission slip" before we order what we need.

I appreciate your insight everyone... keep it coming. (other then why you dont think we need a knife!)

I am not looking for the typical leatherman that everyone has in their desk because as an MST you probably wont want to rock that thing on your belt while doing office work. The Soldier Knife (look at it before you say something) by Swiss has everything I think you could need and it is small enough to throw in your pocket and forget about it until you need it.

The XO is having fun with this and I think this will go through if I spell it out right, was hoping for something specific in regards to regulations, etc.

Thanks...

I looked at the Soldier Knife you mentioned below to see what it was. I noticed it doesn't have a toothpick like previous Swiss Army knives. What value would this have then during a harpat?

Sorry, I had to. But, really, I agree with Fishstyx below about where does it say we can order paper. It's the argument from A Few Good Men, how does your XO know where the galley is if it's not in the SOP?
