I teach our personnel to ALWAYS begin with the "day1" tab. However, I also teach them to right click and rename the "day" tabs with the specific dates of the response.
Example:
If your first day on a spill is Feb 9, 2010, rename "day1" to read "09FEB10" and so on.....
Also, let's say your first day on a 60 day spill is the last day of a given month (i.e. Feb 28, 2010).....open a Small Spill 5136, rename "day1" to read "28FEB10," and then save that Small Spill 5136 as "February." Then start a NEW, Large Spill 5136 for the month of March. Keeping your months separate really helps to minimize confusion.
